5.8 Resources
The Resources section allows you to provide resources (images, videos, documents and other media) for your participants to view and obtain a better understanding of your consultation. PlaceSpeak also allows for Resource commenting, which can be turned on for each resource element.
You must first create a folder before uploading resources to your consultation. The folders will allow you to organize your content (e.g. project phase, category, etc.)
Images
Images like photos, graphs, infographics, maps and other visuals can provide helpful information so participants can better understand your consultation topic.
Click the ‘Upload’ button to open the image uploader. Once the images have been uploaded, you must add a name and description for each image. Click ‘X’ to delete an image.
Accepted formats: .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .pjpeg,.xpng, .tiff, .gif
Videos
Videos can be embedded directly from Vimeo or YouTube. Embed explainer videos, lectures, debates, TEDTalks and other videos to better inform participants.
To embed a video, click ‘Add’. Paste the URL in the provided space. Add a name and description. Click ‘X’ to delete a video.
Documents
Upload any documents that help inform participants about the consultation topic like Zoning Ordinances, Policy Papers, Bylaws and other helpful literature.
Click the ‘Upload’ button to open the document uploader. Once the documents have been uploaded, you can add a name and description for each document. To delete a file, click ‘X’.
Accepted formats: .pdf, .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .ppt, .pptx, .txt, .csv, .xml
Links
Insert Links (from a website, for example) to include helpful external content. Add a Name for the link, and paste the url into the appropriate field. Click the checkmark to save the name and URL.
To delete a link, click ‘X’. You can edit the link and title if needed.
Press ‘Add’ to include more links. Press ‘Done’ once you have added your links.
Accessibility
At PlaceSpeak, we strive to make our platform accessible to participants with disabilities. This helps consultations with web accessibility requirements (check with your jurisdiction or organization). To facilitate this goal, you can provide text alternatives to visual content on your topic page for visually impaired participants.
You can do so by clicking the "Accessibility" button.
