The discussion board can be used to ask specific questions, or post topics on which you would like to receive feedback. Click on "Create Discussion" to get started.

A WYSIWYG editor will open, allowing you to enter a title for your discussion, as well as a detailed description with images, videos and more.

The default settings show the oldest comments at the top of the page; tick the box to show the newest comments at the top. You may also enable discussion moderation to have the ability to review comments before they are published.

Participants can only respond to discussion questions in text format. If you want them to be able to upload images or videos as part of their response, use the Noticeboard tool.

Who Can Participate

You can select who is able to participate in each individual discussion questions. You may have a mix of discussion questions which are open to anyone and those which are open only to residents. 

Anyone: Any registered PlaceSpeak user. 

Residents Only: Individuals who reside within the geographical boundaries of your map. 

Managing Discussion Questions

Add additional questions using the “Create Discussion” button and use the arrows on the left to reorder your questions.

Editing: Click on the pencil icon to edit your discussion question. This can be done at any point during your consultation process. 

Duplicate Question: Click on the sheets icon to make a copy of your discussion question. 

Archiving: Toggle the on/off switch to archive a thread. This will put your question in a read-only state. The public will still be able to see the question and responses, but they will not be able to participate. They will see a message, “Sorry, we are no longer accepting feedback for this discussion. But please feel free to browse the conversation.”

Deleting: Click on the “X” icon to remove a thread. This will remove your question from the public view, but you will still be able to download participants' responses in the Reports.
